Cats, Tapioca, and Worms?

Okay, yeah, I know... This update came pretty early. I'm just so excited though!!! First off, there's this cat. Right? Right. Well, this stupid cat is sitting outside my apartment making awkward meowing sounds. Ya know, like a regular cats meow when it's in heat... So it's that awkward, purr-y, deepish, and very loud meow. It's been going on for like half an hour now. I'm about ready to kill it.

In the mean time... I'm making tapioca pudding!!! Oh my goodness, it is my most favorite thing ever! I made some earlier this week. Now its gone. So I'm making some more :) Last time, it never thickened up so it was more like tapioca soup. Hopefully this time will be better. I didn't take it off the stove till it had been boiling for a minute (last time, I took it off at the first sight of boiling bubbles... just like the box said to). Um Yum Yum! Except it takes a lot of milk. I just bought a gallon on Thursday, and it's almost gone. Usually one gallon lasts me about 2 weeks.

I saw Les Miserables tonight at Bonneville High School. They did such a good job! I love whoever it was that they cast for Marius. As for Javert, well, lets just say that if he proposed to me, I'd say yes ;) hahaha His voice was stunning! Jean Val Jean (I don't think that's the correct spelling, but you get it) didn't look so much the part as the rest of the cast did, see I don't think he was broad enough to play Jean, but his voice was also stunning. Eponine and Cossette were also very very good. I will criticize to the point that Lone Peak and American Fork High Schools did a better overall job, but Bonneville was not bad at all. They sped a lot of the songs up, probably to cut down on time, and the "Lovely Ladies" scene was far dirtier than I expected... Usually they coreograph it very carefully as to get the message across with out being too suggestive (I guess there were some law suits about that in past High School productions of it). This was, well, dirty. The set was amazing though! One of the better ones I've seen :) So there is my critique of that. I give it a 4.5/5!

Finally, since I always save the best for last (not like it matters, I really don't think anyone reads this anymore, if they ever did. I guess I just like to talk to myself... It works as a good journal!) THURSDAY!!! At the institute lunch.

I wore my poncho and a flower in my hair cuz it was taco salad day. Rachel did too, did I mention that? We dress up for Thursday lunches according to the menu cuz we're cool like that. You know, PJ's to school on breakfast for lunch day, and Hawaiian shirts on hawaiian haystack day... It's great fun. We're cheeseballs. So, back from my tangent. I saw a girl that I knew. Her name: Megan Jones. Where I knew her from: I had no idea and neither did she! She lives near Ogden and went to a totally different high school, she worked at a Jamba Juice at who knows were, etc. Half way through institute class, it hit me, she was my roommate for a whole week while I was at Girls State at SUU! Granted it was 3 years ago, but I couldn't believe I'd forgotten! Then I had to hunt her down and tell her. On the hunt, came one of the bravest moments of my life...

Ben was standing there talking to me and Rachel, when he pulls a box out of his pocket and says, "you guys wanna try a worm?!" Yeah. It was a box of real worms, sitting there, waiting to be eaten. He apparently has an advanced "bug" class, as they call it, and the professor brings in worms, and ants, and grasshoppers, etc. for the class to try. The worms had been dried out and coated in a cheddar dust (like a cheeto of sorts). Of course I stick my tongue out at the idea and he has to say... "I dare you." Well how can I refuse? It's amazing the things girls will do when a guy is cute. So Rach and I got a worm and he got one and started to count to 3, when we would all put it in our mouths at the same time. I popped mine in on count 1. It tasted like a watered down cheeto. The thought of what was in my mouth though, that was something else. Ugh! However, I survived and I think I am so brave!!! :)

So can I spiel about exercising? In my Physiology Lab we had a lab on exercising. High, moderate, and low intensity levels were measured (heart rate, respiration rate, and blood pressure). I was the moderate level. For 30 minutes straight, I walked up and down 5 flights of stairs. This was Thursday day. It is now Saturday night and my calves are still killing me!!! I can't walk up or down stairs very well... Actually, I can't walk well. Friday was the worst though. I looked like a duck the whole day. I waddled. With my feet apart to allow for a wide base of support. I did go running this afternoon though! Yay me! I didn't do so well on the treadmill :( I just couldn't run, so Sheree, my beautiful roommie who took me to work out, said "lets try the ellipticals!" So I, being frustrated at myself, figured I'd try it. I stayed on the thing for an hour! It was great!!! It was easy on my joints, it was easy on my calves, yet I could still feel the burn and the sweat and I burned tons of calories! YAY me!!! Happy day. Mary + Elliptical = Happy exercise :)

That's all. Man, I didn't expect to have this much to write. Usually I don't have much to say (hence, very few updates until recently). Much love to all!

Spring Break and Beyond

Well, I'm back from spring break. I'm not terribly excited about that fact. At least I got a chance to earn some extra dough! I'm in sore need of money, I'm just a tad short for next months rent, but luckily, I should be okay thanks to my minimum wage job...

My dog slept with me every night :) She refuses to stay in her own bed, then she takes up most of my bed. Don't ask me how a 13 pound wiener can do that, cuz it boggles my brain too! I wake up to find her laying horizontally, feet against my back, pushing me towards the edge as her front paws stretch forward with plenty of room... yeah, a 13 lb wiener.

I got to see all my girlies (minus Bethany) over the break! We watched "Wolverine" in my basement for girls night. I know, pretty awesome, right? Other than that, it was a relatively uneventful break.

Then I got back up to Ogden...

Sunday night, I realized I had no food for breakfast (or milk...) except pop tarts (which I don't like for breakfast because they're loaded with sugar!) Monday went by smoothly, and I decided I wanted to dye my hair. Darcy told me about a temporary dye she uses when she wants a change, and it sounded great! So I got Rachel all excited about it, and at 10 o'clock at night we made a wal-mart run. I got groceries and we both got hair dye. I wasn't sure if I wanted to go platinum or red or brown, but I decided a more subtle change would be best so I bought the platinum and the brown. I wanted to go lighter (less dramatic, right?) but at the last minute, Rach helped me change my mind. We were basically freaking out the whole time! It was stinking hilarious!!! We bought candy and popped popcorn and made a night of it. We both look so good now!!! My brown dye over the blonde hair actually gave it a reddish tint, which is totally awesome cuz I love red hair! I actually look like I'm related to the rest of my family ;) hahahahaha!!!

This was before we dyed it! (Note how light blonde my hair looks)

I couldn't help but take a picture of this! Haha! This was in the dying process...

And this was my beautiful result!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!!! (Don't think I'm too vain, I'm just excited for a new do!)

So that is my awesome story. I love my new hair-do, and it's low maintenance, in about a month (give or take) it'll have faded back to my natural color and I can do a different color! Woo!!! :D Loves to all!

Events In My Life

So... Here I sit again, at my computer, writing on a blog for no reason at all except to procrastinate my homework. The walls in my apartment are kind of thin... I can hear a lot of things... I'm not sure how I should feel about this fact. Well, that was random...
I did go see Alice in Wonderland! I saw it in 3D. I think it would've been just fine in 2D though. It is a Tim Burton movie, so just be wary of that as you go in to see it. I liked it a lot :) Others, may not. (Ha! I rhyme!)
I lifted weights for the first time in YEARS the other day. I did pretty good, if I do say so myself. However, today we played water polo and my arms were killing me... To my pleasant surprise, being in the water made them feel less sore as we played. My team won by like 3 or 4 points. It was great! I like water polo a lot (but not as much as I like broom hockey).
I'm currently reading "Wicked" the book. It is wonderful. The diction makes me laugh! Everything is described in a way that puts cartoons in my head rather than real-looking things. The green skin on Elphaba, the roads (even the yellow brick one), the faces, the clothing, etc. They are all described in such extravagant and original ways. If you want a good read, pick it up (though I'm only a few chapters in). Unlike "Dune" where it took me the first 150 pages to figure out who was who and what was going on. Though I will say I give "Dune" 4 1/2 to 5 stars. It was an amazing book and very thought provoking!
We are now preparing for a spring show in the Institute Choir. We just sang at a fireside in Provo that was broadcast by satellite to churches/stake centers all across North America! My best friend in Virginia called me that night in total shock... I guess she saw me quite a few times while we were singing! How cool is that?! I'm totally famous now...watch out Brett! ;) tehehe...
I was in Vegas just 4 days ago to see Matt's track meet. He did really well! To our enjoyment, he failed miserably at the hurdles :P However, he took 2nd in pole vault!!! Yay Matty! Brett was there too, it was so so so great! We went to the Hash-House a Go-Go for dinner... WOW! The food was unbelievable! The hamburgers were bigger than my head!!! Yummy!
Well, midterms are officially over now and I get to go home on Friday for a whole week!!! I'm gonna be working the whole time so I can pay the last months rent on my apartment, but that's okay cuz some of my best friends work at the Ice Cream shop with me! :) And I get to sleep with my cute little doggie every night too.
Here's a few more pics for you!

Danni has never actually done this, but mom took me to Del Taco once (same cups) and left me in the car with Danni, she did get curious about the straws...

Just remember this next time you see a yellow spot on the carpet, Mom ;)

That's all folks! Peace!

The light at the end of the tunnel... I hope it's not an oncoming train!

Hello!
I know its so odd that I'm writing right now... You're probably thinking "this girl blogs maybe once a month, if we're lucky" (or perhaps if you don't like reading this it would be unlucky for me to post that much... but if you don't like reading this then why are you reading it at all? I mean, seriously!) Well, I'm trying to do better about keeping people updated on my life, and I really wish my posts were shorter, so hopefully I'll succeed!
This weekend is gonna be crazy busy! I have an anatomy lab midterm tomorrow, then Saturday morning I'm singing at the Relief Society Birthday Breakfast when Sister Beck is coming to speak to our stake! So that will be fun. I think I'll go visit Grammy again later that day. Then on Sunday, I'm busing down to Provo with the Choir (ironic I know, I usually drive myself home for a weekend...) and we're singing at the CES fireside in the Marriott Center at BYU. That should be fun :) Then my week will start over again.
I'm going to go see Alice in Wonderland soon! Oh man I'm so so so so so excited for it!!! I will let you know how it is :) I'm hoping to go this weekend, but Rachel may need to work or something, so we'll probably go during the week (if it comes to that).
I'm starting to meet more and more cute boys up here... I have hope. One day, one day, I might get asked out by someone I like. Don't hold your breath though, folks... Most likely, it'll be awhile before that ever happens again. Hahaha
Yeah... So I dressed in flip flops today cuz the past few days have been really nice, and this morning was warm too :) It was also the Hawaiian Haystack day at institute lunch so Rachel and I dressed up all tropical. I have a pretty flower in my hair and stuff... It's fun. Then, during my lab, it starts raining. I love rain! Before I got home, we were being blasted by snow! And it's still coming... *sigh* Oh well. Spring is getting closer. Thats all for now I guess!
Peace!
Mary

Here are more Weenie dog pics!!!

Why did the cowboy adopt a weenie dog?

Cuz he wanted to get a long little doggie!!!

March Madness

It's March! And it's mad! You know why?! Cuz it's mid-term!!!!! Oh my goodness, at least I'm done with my Physiology midterm (it just about killed me...), at least the Microbiology mid-term wasn't too bad, my swimming mid-term is just water polo so I'm really excited for that, and I'm taking the anatomy mid-term in just a few hours! Oh no! And on top of that, I have a mid-term in my anatomy lab on Friday! What is this world coming to? Where did the good old days go that I didn't have to worry about how hard tests would be and I could make everything up in my awesomeness in homework? Oh yeah... I already graduated High School. HAHA! Welcome to college, folks! I absolutely love it!
So, awesome story! I played broom hockey and totally dominated! It was AWESOME! My friend Rachel invited me cuz I guess her ward had it all set up... They reserved the ice rink here on campus, then everyone brought their own broom, and we hit around a small mickey-mouse soccer ball on the ice. In our street shoes. With no rules whatsoever except that in order to make a point, we had to make the goal ;) It's pretty much my new favorite sport.
In February I went to a Valentines dance (again, with Rachel, she's pretty much awesome. I met her in my swimming class and then we had an institute class together, so we chill, it's pretty cool). Anyways, we got all dressed up in our prom dresses and stuff... It was pretty funny. And really fun too! We left early to watch videos on Youtube the rest of the night. Haha!!!
I really like being in Ogden! It's so close to everything! I walk out my front door, and there's this restaurant called the Golden Jade right there! And they speak Cantonese! (Matt was really happy about that) And the food is soooooooooooooooooooo delicious!!! They have this lunch special for $6 and I had food for lunch, dinner, and the next day's lunch. NOT KIDDING! It's great!
Matt had a track meet up here at Weber recently, so that was awesome that I could just walk over and watch him :) And Jackie got her Young Womens medallion, which I was able to go to cuz I live 25 minutes away from Scott and Patty! And on Saturdays that I stay Cogno, I go down and visit Grammy cuz she's 25 minutes the opposite direction! :)
As for the word "Cogno".... Mom was trying to ask me if I was going home to alpine or home to my Condo in Ogden, but it came out slurred together as Cogno. So now my home is Cogno! Hahahaha! Yay mom!
The only part about being so far away from home is that I miss my doggie Danni Girl so much!!! I can't stand it sometimes. We actually have a blog for her now too... haha yeah, I know it's crazy. Rachel and Dad came up with it... Go to http://mydogdanni.blogspot.com! They put cute pictures of her on there! (I left my camera home last time I was there, so no pics for me right now, sorry!)
Well, much love to all my readers! I'm having a blast and doing great! I appreciate the prayers, food, and money I've received! :P
Peace!
Mary

And here are some pic's I found online that reminded me of my cute little danni girl!
